In the early 1990s, a new material for blow molding bottle bodies, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) plastic bottles, was developed abroad. Its properties are better than PET, with high strength, good heat resistance, UV resistance, excellent barrier performance against carbon dioxide gas and oxygen, good chemical resistance, and more extensive applications than PET. PEN material is a new type of polyester resin actively developed domestically and internationally in recent years, and is also an excellent material for pharmaceutical plastic bottle packaging. Due to the wide range of specifications for medicinal plastic bottles, from small ones of tens of milliliters to large ones of thousands of milliliters, some are colorless and some are transparent, with various colors, shapes, and categories. If drugs need higher barrier performance, light blocking and opacity, brown PET bottles are selected, and PEN bottles have better barrier performance. Liquid dosage form drugs generally use polypropylene bottles or polyester bottles as the main raw materials.
